Race To MVP

March 12 2008

1.Kobe Bryant

He still remains at the top of the MVP list. After losing that game against the Sacremento, my looks on Kobe has changed a little. Still, Lakers are on top of the Western Conference, even ahead of the Spurs and the Rockets. Kobe's averaging well, so I'll keep him here.

2.LeBron James

LeBron is playing well at the moment. He got his seventh triple double of the season yesterday in a 88-80 win. The top two players to have the most triple double in a season in the last 18 years is Jason Kidd 13(this season) and Grant Hill,13, more than a decade ago. It will not be long after LeBron catches Kobe.

3.Tracy McGrady

I decided to put him ahead of Chris Paul this week is because Houston is too ahead of New Orleans in the Western Conference. Other than that, T-Mac has won the Western Conference Player Of The Week, averaging 32.3 points, 7.7 assists and 5.0 rebounds. Also, he exploded for 41 points, 9 assists and 6 rebounds last Sunday. Lastly, the Rockets are on a 19 game winning streak and 7 of them came without Yao's presence. It might just be too late for T-Mac to catch the top 2.

4.Chris Paul

If Chris Paul played like this in the seasons Steve Nash won, Chris Paul would've won. He's averaging fantastic stats for a point guard and he will definitely be in the top 5 this year. This week he loose out to T-Mac but I'm sure he will be 3rd again somehow.

5.Dwight Howard

Everyone has forgotten what a blockbuster season Dwight Howard is having. The way he is playing his basketball is still great. He is still one of the top rebounders and blockers and Orlando are playing well too. He is still the best big man today.

6.Tim Duncan

The San Antonio Spurs are the best team in the West at the moment. Tim is averaging very good too. After loosing to the Nuggets a few days ago, they came back by beating them again. Timmy, who erupted for 23 points, 18 rebounds, five assists and three blocks in a win over the Nuggets on Monday. They won 11 in a row before it ended.

7.Deron Williams

This guy is rising quickly on my list. Since the All-Star break, D-Will has been the top point guard in the league. He has notched seven straight double-doubles and is currently the biggest reason for Utah's success.

8.Kevin Garne
tt

He was the 32nd player to score 20,000 points. Kevin Garnett will win the MVP if the MVP stands for "the best player from the best team of the season".

9.Steve Nash

The Suns have been struggling lately, but don't blame Nash who has 42 assists in the past three games. On Sunday, he torched the Spurs' Tony Parker for 19 points, 14 dimes and five rebounds.

10.Chris Bosh

Toronto are back! The team win-loose record is now above 50%. Infact, way above 50%. 34-28.
Chris Bosh is starting to play like last season which may lead him into the top 8. His average assist is higher than Dwight Howard or Amare Stoudemire too.

Running The Floor

Andre Iguodala

Led by Andre Iguodala, Philly has won 11 of its past 14 games to move within four games of .500 with a record of 29-33. Iguodala is the face of the franchise. He is averaging 19.7 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game. The fourth-year forward burst on the scene when in this writer’s humble opinion he was robbed by the judges at the 2006 Slam Dunk Contest(Has Nate Robinson made his dunk yet?). As his statistics show, Iguodala, who is better suited to be a second option than a first, is more than just a high flyer. He is an above-average defender, uses his athleticism to run the floor and finish the break and rebounds well for his position.

T-Mac helps Rockets to 18th Straight win

Tracy McGrady exploded for 41 points, 9 assists and 6 rebounds. I don't know whether LeBron or Mr. Kobe can do that. He added a wonderful, well timed alley-oop dunk, a pass received from Rafer Alston. Anyway, this is just a notice to next weeks R2MVP update. If T-Mac continues his streak, it won't be long for him to be top of the MVP list. Wait for next weeks R2MVP. Should be on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Race To MVP

March 7 2008

1.Kobe Bryant

Well, he is the best player in the league by far at the moment. Getting 52 points that day was fantastic. People might say that LeBron James is better in scoring, rebounding, assist and shooting percentage but winning percentage? Kobe's team is doing much more better than LeBron's team and it seems like they can win the West or maybe even giving Kobe his 4th Ring? They say that its Pau Gasol but you must know, without Pau, Lakers are still better than the Cavs. Kobe's last 10 games are better than LeBron's though.

2.LeBron James

If its not Kobe than its LeBron. James average stats this season is the best. He is leading the PRA score by miles ahead. The last time I've seen this PRA socre was by Kobe and T-Mac. LeBron who landed 89 points in 2 games only won 1 of them. This is why he is not leading. His team is not doing well.

3.Chris Paul

Chris Paul is doing well this season. His last 5 games wasn't that impressive but when he needs it, he will give it. He is the only player this season to score over 20 points, 10 assist and 2.5 steals. New Orleans are first in the Western Conference too. Who is the last guy to do this? Magic Johnson?

4.Dwight How
ard

There was one part of the season where Dwight Howard averages over 22 points, 15 rebounds and over 60% shooting. He settled down slowly and now averages worst. Still, Howard is playing better this season making Orlando the only team to challenge Boston and Detroit in the East.

5.Tim Duncan

You might say that Spurs are winning 11 in a row thanks to Manu Ginobilli or Tony Parker but to me its Tim. He is still the main guy, averaging double double in almost every game in the streak. When Tony is injured most of the time, and Ginobilli usually goes on and off, it all goes to Tim.

6. Tracy M
cGrady

17 in a row. A new franchise record and 7th in history. 5 of them came without Yao's presence. Tracy McGrady isn't averaging the best stat in his career but he is doing fine. Having scored 20 points and above in the last 4 games, he exploded for 31 points and 9 assists against the Mavs. The reason why he is not higher is due to his stats and he still receives help from Luis Scola, Shane Battier, Carl Landry and of course Rafer Alston. He's my favourite player though.

7. Allen Iverson

He is the 3rd top scorer behind Kobe and LeBron. His last 5 games has been not impressive scoring just 17 against Houston few days ago, but for a person to score over 27 points and assist over 7 a season?, its difficult.

8.Amare Stoudemire

To me he and Dwight Howard are the two best big man in the last 5 years. Averagin 23.9 points per game and over 9 rebounds, its not long once he averages and impressive double double this season. Ever since Shaq arrived, The Suns have not been playing well, but Stoudemire is. He is now playing at his favourite position after the center position is now covered by Shaq. If he starts next season like this, he will average around 26 points and 10 rebounds.

9.Deron Williams

I did not want to put him here this week, but he had a 19 assists and 20 assists in two games in a row this week. That's impressive. The Jazz are winning 16 straight home games in a row though. Without Deron, they might not even make it to 5.

10.Kevin Garnett

The Boston Celtics are in the playoffs already and mostly is because of KG. He is back from injury this week and he is having some fine stats. After the Celctics lost 4 in a row, they are back thanks to KG. If Boston were 4th or 5th, KG won't be anywhere around here because with his stats, he can't even beat Al Jefferson.

Running The Floor

Chris Bosh

Toronto are now 5th, behind the Big Four, and Chris Bosh is alone there. He might received some help from Calderon, but he is the main reason why there are winning. His shooting fantasticly too.
